After a 3 week layoff from competition the Golden Eagles were swept in their conference opener at #20 Madonna. In the first game the Crusader scored two runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 2-0 lead. Cornerstone responded with a run in the top of the 3rd with a Melanie Creager home run to cut the Madonna lead to one (2-1). The Crusaders responded with another run in the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead. The Crusaders added another run in the bottom of the 4th and then capped it off with 5 runs in the 5th to finish the game in five innings 9-1. Madison Bucilla pitched three innings in the loss and Dinah Gruppen pitched 1.2 innings.
In the second game of the doubleheader the Crusaders got on the board in the bottom of the first scoring one run. They followed it up with two runs in the second, three in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 8-0 lead. The Golden Eagles were not able to get on the board in the fifth. Heidi Warmelink took the loss. Madonna improves to 23-4 overall and 4-0 in the WHAC while the Golden Eagles fall 9-7 overall and 0-2 in the WHAC.
