Game 1- Viterbo University vs. Cornerstone University
Suffering their first loss of the day, the Golden Eagles struggled offensively. Madison Bucilla took the mound for Cornerstone who was scoreless until the sixth inning against Viterbo. The Golden Eagles gaveup Viterbo's only runs of the first seven inningsin the third inning. Viterbo took advantage of the Cornerstone error and scored three runs total. Cornerstone bounced back in the sixth, scoring three to tie the game. Melanie Creagerhit a single to drive in a run in the sixth,and led the team with two hits. Jessica Kuhlman, Tahni Bruno, Heidi Warmelink, and Madison Bucilla all chipped in with one hit a piece for the Golden Eagles. The game went into eight innings resulting in an international tie breaker. As the visitors, Viterbo began with a runner on second base. Viterbo sacrificed their base runner to third and scored on an error in right field. Cornerstone began with a runner on second base in the bottom of the eighth but was unable to advance their base runner and Viterbo was declared victorious with a final score of 4-3.
Game 2- Cornerstone University vs. Azusa Pacific University
Another offensive struggle for the Golden Eagles took place against the Cougars of Azusa Pacific University. Heidi Warmelink started for Cornerstone. After the first two batters grounded out to Warmelink, Azusa strung together three hits to scored two runs in the top of the first. Cornerstone was unable to score until the bottom of the seventh inning. Rachel Gruppen led off the bottom of the seventhreaching base on a fielder's choice and Lauren Pasciak moved Gruppen to second on a base hit. Kuhlman then singled to center to load the bases and Tahni Bruno scored Gruppen and Pasciak with a single. Melanie Creager then singled up the middle, however, Bruno was thrown out on a controversial call at second base for the second out of the inning. Azusa was able to force the last batter to ground out to second to end the inning. Melanie Creager and Lauren Pasciak led the Golden Eagles with two hits a piece. Tahni Bruno and Pasciak both had RBI's for the Golden Eagles. Jessica Kuhlman and Tahni Bruno contributed one hit each. Azusa won the game 6-2.
