The Golden Eagles lost a (98-95) 2OT thriller to Davenport today to wrap up the WHAC regular season with a 14-2 record. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and they maintained that lead for the first 9 minutes of play today. Cornerstone finally tied the score at 18-18 on a 3-pointer by Justin Yoder with 10:54 left in the half. The Golden Eagles took their first lead (21-19) with 9:57 on the clock. Cornerstone kept the lead until 6:30 when Davenport tied the score at 26-all. Davenport took a 31-30 lead with 4:13 on the clock and they finished the half up 41-36. The Golden Eagles would trail for the first 6 ½ minutes of the second half until Ted Albert hit a foul shot to tie the game at 51-51. The Panthers regained the lead an built as much as an 8 point lead (66-58) but the Golden Eagles would hang tough and would battle back to tie the socre at 68-68 with 3:21 on the clock. Cornerstone took a 74-72 lead on a Bryan Pasciak layup with :06 seconds on the clock but the Panthers would draw a foul and hit 2 foul shots to tie the game at 74-74. Kelvin DeVries fired up a shot from 2/3 court that drew iron but didn't fall so the game went into OT. The Golden Eagles trailed for most of the first OT but tied it with :11 second on a 2-pointer by Kelvin DeVries who stepped on the 3-point line on the shot. Davenport failed to convert as they went to 2OT. Cornerstone took an early lead on a 3-pointer from Bryan Pasciak but Davenport would tie the game at 88-88 and 92-92 which was the 14th and 15th ties of the game. Davenport took the lead with :57 seconds and Cornerstone would not be able to respond as they went on to a 98-95 loss to the Panthers. It was a great NAIA contest of two very good teams.
