(Marion, Ind.) The Cornerstone Women's Track & Field team enjoyed good competition at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational, placing well in six events.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Amy Boyer breezed through the semi-finals winning in 9.09 then lowering her personal best to 8.98 to win the finals. The time improves her spot on the NAIA performance list. Amy also took second in the high jump, clearing 5' 1" while Amanda VanLaar tied for sixth in a personal best 4' 9".
Lauren Pierce held off a determined effort by Boyer in the 400 meters. Both ran new best times with Pierce placing third in 1:01.01 and Boyer fourth in 1:01.05.
Audry Yonge coasted to third in the mile in 5:48.34, saving most of her energy for the 4 x 800 meter relay. After coming up short the previous week, Yonge, Jill Louisignau, Julia Contreras and Peterson needed to cover 3200 meters in 9:47.00. Halfway through the second leg, the Golden Eagles were without competition. Coming up the final straightaway, Peterson got in a stare down with the scoreboard clock. She hit the finish line winning in 9:47.51. The Golden Eagles improved their provisional mark, but just shy of the automatic standard.
