race walk at the Cedarville Indoor Invitational featured a head to head match
of the second and third place finishers at last year's NAIA Indoor T&F
National Championship: Josh Wiseman of Cedarville and CU's Kris Shear.
The pair spoke before the race and
agreed to work together in an attempt to cover the 15 laps in 50 seconds for a
Shear took the lead from the start
and kept it through the opening mile in 6:37. After a 51 second split on the
ninth lap, Wiseman moved ahead on the back straight and opened a five meter
lead with 400 meters to go. Shear worked
his way back to Wiseman's shoulder with one lap to go then sped past, covering
the final circuit 47.5. The winning time of 12:30.28 knocked 31 seconds off the
school record he set two weeks ago.

the NAIA Indoor T&F Championships.
