The Golden Eagles traded leads with the Saints 8 times in the first half most of which was in the first 15 minutes of play. Siena Heights hit a 2-pointer with 5:24 on the clock to tie the game at 22-22 but the Golden Eagles would go on a 9-0 run over the next 2 ½ minutes to open up a 31-22 lead with 3:03 left in the half. Siena Heights would outscore Cornerstone 4-3 to end the half as the Golden Eagles took a 34-26 lead into the locker-room at half-time. The Golden Eagles would maintain a comfortable margin (42-32) through the opening 3 minutes of the 2nd half but the Saints would make a run to cut the margin to 2 points (46-44) with 12:44 on the clock. The Golden Eagles responded with a 7-1 run to increase the lead to (53-44) about midway through the half. Kelvin DeVries sank a 3-pointer with 6:10 on the clock to give Cornerstone a 60-48 lead with 6:10 left in the half. Cornerstone maintained a double digit lead for the remainder of the half and finished with a 71-56 victory over the Saints. Cornerstone clinches at least a tie for the WHAC title with the win and Coach Elders wins his 450th game as the Golden Eagles Head Coach.
The #3 Golden Eagles will host Concordia on Wednesday at 7:30 with the opportunity to clinch the WHAC regular season out right.
