Cornerstone shot 50% (9-18) in the 2nd half but committed 21 turnovers in the game. Indiana Tech shot 60% (15-25) in the 2nd half and had 12 steals in the game.
The Golden Eagles travelled down to Fort Wayne on a cold day but they met a very hot Warrior team from Indiana Tech. Cornerstone started off well led by All-American Brooke Carter who scored 10 of the first 12 points to put the Golden Eagles up 12-2 with 15:01 on the clock. The Warriors responded quickly with a 10-0 run of their own to tie the score at 12-12 with 11:23 left in the half. The Golden Eagles would not see the lead again for the next 7 minutes. Robyn Veltkamp hit a shot from the foul line to tie the score at 21-21 and then Brooke Carter put the Golden Eagles back up with a basket at 4:07. Cornerstone hung onto that lead and finished the half up 28-25. The Golden Eagles maintained a lead for the first 7 minutes of the 2nd half but the Warriors regained the lead (39-38) with 13:09 left in the half. The teams swapped the lead a couple of times over the next 4 minutes of play. The Warriors went up (47-45) on a 3-pointer with 9:11 and then held the lead until 2:31 left in the game. Robyn Veltkamp made a 2-pointer to tie the score at 61-61. The Golden Eagles would go cold down the stretch and were forced to foul and the Warriors made their foul shots as they defeated the Golden Eagles 72-63.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road this Wednesday when they travel over to UM-Dearborn for a double header with the men. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
