The Golden Eagles scored the opening bucket and led for the entire game today against Aquinas. Cornerstone got their first double digit lead (18-8) with 10:21 left in the half. Aquinas cut the lead to five (23-18) with 4:34 left on the clock but the Golden Eagles made an 11-0 run to finish the half and went into the locker room up 34-18. Cornerstone maintained that double digit lead throughout the second half. Their largest lead (46-26) came with 13:06 on the clock. Aquinas cut the lead to 11 (46-35) with 10:01 on the clock but the Golden Eagles immediately pushed the lead back to 19 (54-35) in a 3 minute span. Cornerstone would maintain at least a 14 point margin throughout the remainder of the game and would finish with a 16 point (63-47) win over the Saints. Cornerstone improved to 8-3 in the WHAC and took over sole possession of 2nd place since Concordia did not play a WHAC game this afternoon.
The Golden Eagles have the week off and will return to action next Saturday when they travel down to Indiana Tech at 1:00 p.m. The Warriors defeated the Golden Eagles 63-54 in their first meeting.
