The Golden Eagles started the game off with a 10-3 run led by Melissa Veltkamp. The Crusaders answered back cutting the deficit to 2 seven minutes into the game. The Golden Eagles answered back with a run of their own getting the lead up to 8 points (20-12) midway through the first half. The two teams would then trade baskets most of the half as the Golden Eagles went into the intermission with a 30-24 lead. The beginning five minutes of the 2nd half was all Cornerstone as they started out the half with a 15-6 run capped off by a Melissa Veltkamp 3-point shot that made it a 15 point (45-30) lead. That three was also her 1,000th career point making her the 21st women's basketball player in Cornerstone University to accomplish that honor. The Crusaders would then recover as they were able to begin chipping away at the lead. A jump shot made by Shantelle Herring brought the game to 66-64 with a little over a minute to go. After consecutive missed 3's for each team Ellisha Crosby of the Golden Eagles drew a foul with 33 seconds left for a for two shots. Crosby missed the first but made the second shot to give Cornerstone a 67-64 lead. The Crusaders came down and missed a 3-point attempt but got the rebound and a Madonna timeout. Erin Bentley sank a 3-pointer to tie the game at 67-67. Coming off a timeout with 4 seconds to go Melissa Veltkamp received the ball and would not give it up as she calmly made a baseline jumper with only .2 seconds on the clock. The Crusaders desperation shot would miss by a good margin and the lady Golden Eagles would come out with a hard fought win. Cornerstone University now moves to 7-3 in conference play and 18-5 overall. Brooke Carter's 8 rebounds put her over the 1,000 mark for career rebounds; she also is a member of the 1,500 point club.
