Brooke Carter became Cornerstone's all-time leading rebounder after grabbing 15 rebounds in the game. She broke Amy Kraft's (1985-1990) of 989 career rebounds. Carter nears the 1,000 rebound mark with 990.
The Golden Eagles had enough on their hands playing the #1 ranked Panthers with a full and healthy roster but they found out they had to play the game without Point Guard Robyn Veltkamp due to illness. Cornerstone trailed from the beginning of the game and went down as much as 12 points (20-8) with 10:50 but they made a 17-6 run to cut the lead to 26-25 with 2:42 left in the half. The Panthers responded with a 7-0 run to end the half and finished up 33-25 at intermission. The Golden Eagles made a 6-0 run to start the second half to cut the lead to 33-31 and then kept the lead to single digits until Davenport drained a 3-pointer with 11:17 left in the half to give the Panthers a 48-37 lead. The Panthers maintained that double digit margin for the remainder of the game to finish with an 81-61 victory over the Golden Eagles. Davenport's largest lead of the game was 23 which came with :45 seconds left on the clock.
The Golden Eagles will host University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Cornerstone lost the WHAC season opener to the Racers 66-65.
