The women's basketball team will be hosting their annual Christmas tournament on December 17-18. The tournament includes 4 teams ranked in the top 25. On Friday December 17th the #12 Tigers of Iowa Wesleyan will play the #21 Wolves of Cardinal Stritch at 6pm. Both teams finished in the NAIA Quarterfinals last year. Iowa Wesleyan lost to eventual national champion Northwestern Iowa 89-72 in the quarterfinal game ending their season at 27-8. They are led by 5-6 senior Melanie McCreight who is averaging 19.7ppg. Cardinal Stritch knocked off #1 seed Davenport in the sweet sixteen to advance the quarterfinal round where they lost to Briar Cliff 62-53 they finished with an overall record of 30-3. Stritch brings an 8-2 overall record into the tournament and they are led by senior Angela Gray's 11.2ppg and 6-2 junior, Lisa Lawrence's 11.5ppg.
The Golden Eagles put their #5 ranking on the line when they take on USCAA member Rochester College at 8pm on Friday December 17th. Rochester is ranked 4th in the USCAA and are 8-5 on the season. Cornerstone is 12-1 overall and ranked 5th in the NAIA. Junior Robyn Veltkamp
needs just 27 points to reach the 1000 point mark. Sophomore Sam Tomaschko leads Rochester College and ranks #1 in blocked shots 4.7bpg. She also ranks 10th in rebounds per game with 10.2rpg.
The consolation game will be at 1pm on Saturday, December 18th and the championship game will be at 3pm. The men's team will take on Grace Bible College at 5pm on Saturday, December 18th.
