(Saginaw, Mich.) For the ninth straight year the Cornerstone
University Women's Track & Field team opened their indoor season at the
Saginaw Valley State University Holiday Classic.
Seniors Amy Boyer and Brandi Harr provided the CU highlights
in the 60 meter hurdles and the pole vault.
Boyer may have broken the school record in the prelims of
the hurdles, winning her heat in a blistering 8.6 seconds, 3/10th of
a second under Nicole Daniels mark from 2008. Unfortunately, before the meet,
the automatic timing system failed to operate properly and all events used hand
timing which is not valid for record purposes or qualifying marks in events
under 400 meters. Harr's 9.2 qualified her for the finals as well. Amy and Brandi
finished 1-3 in the finals with Boyer getting the win in 8.9 and Harr matching
her 9.2 from the prelims.
In the pole vault, Boyer won by 12 inches, clearing 11' 6".
Harr tied for second at 10' 6".
In the 3,000 meters, Jill Louisignau's 11:04.84 debut put
her eighth on the CU all-time list and third in the race. Audry Yonge finished
fourth in 11:10.04, a ten second personal best.
Lauren Pierce, Boyer, Harr and Kelly Peterson raced to third
in the 4x400 meter relay clocking 4:11.34.
