Aquinas College - Grand Rapids Hall of Fame Tournament
Tom Snikkers (Calvin) led all scorers with 20 points and Ronald Bates led the Golden Eagles with 15 points.
Snikkers led Calvin with 8 rebounds and Bryan Pasciak had 4 rebounds for Cornerstone.
Justin Yoder made 4 of 7 shots from beyond the arc for the Golden Eagles.
KEY TEAM STATS
Both teams shot an identical 28-56 (50%) from the floor for the game. Cornerstone made 13 of 22 (59.1%) from long rangebut the Knights ruled the glass and grabbed 17 (39-22) more rebounds in the game than the Golden Eagles which included 12 offensive boards. The Golden Eagles shot only 58.3% (7-12) from the foul line and missed the front ends of a couple of 1 and 1's late in the game.
Calvin had their biggest lead in the first half with 2:59 remaining in the half but the Golden Eagles cut the lead down to 7 (46-39) at the half. Cornerstone made a 22-11 run to start the 2nd half to go up 64-60 but that would be their largest lead of the 2nd half as Calvin pounded the boards and went on to defeat Cornerstone by 6 to win the Grand Rapids Hall of Fame Tournament.
The Golden Eagles will open WHAC play on Wednesday, Dec. 1st against WHAC newcomer University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, OH at 7:30 p.m.
