As hosts of the 7th annual WHAC/MCC Challenge the Golden Eagles entered the tournament with a 1-5 record versus their opponent Indiana Wesleyan. Both teams brought perfect records into the game with the Wildcats at 4-0 and the Golden Eagles 6-0 and top 20 NAIA ranking. Cornerstone shot 50% (14/28) in the first half and took a 33-27 lead into the locker-room. Indiana Wesleyan shot 48% (12/25) in the first half. Brooke Carter

Offensive rebounding was the key in the second half as Cornerstone snatched 11 offensive boards to keep their offense alive and limited the Wildcats to 1 offensive rebound. Indiana Wesleyan was in the bonus early in the game and cashed in on free-throws to cut the lead to 2 points but Robyn Veltkamp
got hot late in the game and timely free-throws in the end sealed the 60-44 upset of #3 Indiana Wesleyan. Melissa Veltkamp
finished with 16 points while Brooke Carter
posted her 3rd straight double double 14 points and 14 rebounds. Robyn Veltkamp
chipped in with 10 points and 6 assists. Sam Flietstra sparked the Golden Eagles taking a charge and collecting 5 of her 7 rebounds on the offensive end. Elaine Hessel led the Wildcats with 16 points. The Golden Eagles held IWU to 2 of 19 shooting from the 3 point line for 11%.
There won't be much time to recover as the Golden Eagels take on #17 Bethel College on Saturday at 3pm.
