The Golden Eagles scored goals in the last 2 minutes of the each half to defeat Indiana Tech 2-1 today to advance to the WHAC Semifinals on Tuesday. Cornerstone went down 1-0 in the 42nd minute of play when Michael Lewis took a long pass off his chest and hit a volley that hit the inside of the post and just barely went across the line as Matt Roberts
got his hands on it. The Golden Eagles responded right away scoring the equalizer at 43:42. Jordan Wilson
collected a ball about 45 yards out from goal and lofted a chip into the box over the back of Tech's defense. Nic Tolsma
made a run through and was able to head the ball over the Warriors keeper that had come off his line to get the ball. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie. Indiana Tech out-shot the Golden Eagles 8-6 in the first half of play.The Golden Eagles had many more chances in the second half as the out shot the Warriors 9-3. They created more chances and forced Tech's keeper to make 4 saves in the second half. The break came in the 88th minute when Nic Tolsma
was dragged down about 35 yards from the goal. Tech's Joseph Ishraidi was given a yellow card on the play. On the ensuing free kick, Ishraidi was called for a handball in the box which resulted in a Penalty Kick for Cornerstone with 1:33 remaining in the game. Sophomore Matt Osorio
buried his shot to the right of the GK to give Cornerstone the 2-1 win over the Warriors. Cornerstone will return to action this Tuesday when they take on Davenport (1-0 winner over Concordia). That game will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
