The Golden Eagles defeated the Concordia Cardinals in three games 25-17, 25-17, 25-15. CU improves to 15-23 overall and 6-9 in the WHAC. The win tonight marked the 5th straight win for Cornerstone. In the first game CU made mini-runs of 3, 4 and 5 points to gain the 25-17 advantage. In the second game and the score at 12-11 CU Alicia TerHaar had one of her team high 10 kills followed by a Concordia error and then a kill by
Megan April pushed the CU lead to 15-11. The Cardinals cut the lead to 15-13 before
Megan April and
Kate Zwier each had a kill to push the lead back to 17-13 and from there CU just sided-out and finished with a 25-17 win.
In the third game strong serving by
Lauren Pierce during a pivotal time in the game pushed CU's lead to 14-7. Ball-handling and service errors plaqued the Cardinals and CU came away with a 25-15 win in the third and final game.
Becky Albrecht led the team with 24 assists and
Abby Miedema finished with a team high 15 digs. The Golden Eagles had 8 total team blocks to Concordia's 3. The Golden Eagles will be hosting Country night on Thursday, November 4 at 7pm versus Madonna in the final WHAC match of the season before tournament play.
