The Golden Eagles lost 2-1 to Indiana Institute of Technology today. On a cold and windy Senior Day, time expired before Cornerstone could finish their comeback. The Golden Eagles finished their season at 10-6-1 overall, and 4-1-1 in conference play.The first 45 minutes of play was scoreless, with Indiana Tech seeing most of the opportunities and outshooting CU 8-3. After the break, Cornerstone searched for momentum on attack, and it was the Warriors who struck first. In the 51st minute, Rikki Singstock won the ball on a quick transition, and ripped a shot with the wind that was just outside CU goalkeeper Alyssa Morrow
's reach. Four minutes later in a skirmish in front of the net, the Warriors got another tally to make it 2-0. Emily Swanson assisted Natalie Zimmerman as Zimmerman finished a deflection in front of the net. Cornerstone searched to find any momentum on attack, and battled to move up the field. The Golden Eagles began peppering crosses in front of Indiana Tech's goal, and finally saw success. In the 70th minute, Rachel Wood
collected a cross from Jenna Wiersma
, and beat the keeper as she collided with two defenders. While Cornerstone outshot the Warriors 10-3 in the second half, the couldn't find the equalizer in time. The final tally was 2-1 Indiana Tech over Cornerstone in the final game of conference play. The Golden Eagles clinch a tie for the WHAC regular season title with Siena Heights because Siena Heights and Madonna played to a 0-0 tie. Cornerstone will get the #1 Seed in the tournament because the Golden Eagles defeated Siena Heights 2-1 in the first game of the season. Cornerstone will get a bye for Saturday and will host the winner of #4 Madonna vs. #5 Aquinas.
