||1|(Grand Rapids, Mich.) After playing Aquinas just four days ago in a non-conference game the Golden Eagles now faced the Saints in a "matters" game. Sure the 1-0 win over the Saints last week Saturday was great from a record stand-point but winning the conference game counted just a little more. It was Jen Kuipers who scored the only goal of the game at the 8 minute mark. Paige Knott was credited with the assist to take the 1-0 lead. Kuipers finished with a team high 3 shots on goal and one of them found the back of the net. The win marked the first time that CU has won on Aquinas' field. Shortly after Kuipers goal the Golden Eagles had another great look that just missed the mark. The shot count was 10-5 in the first period in favor of CU but it was Aquinas who controlled the ball most the second half to out-shoot CU 8-2.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Morrow had 6 saves to help secure the win. Cornerstone improves to 8-4 and 2-0 in the WHAC while Aquinas falls to 3-9 and 0-1 in the WHAC. Cornerstone is off until next week Tuesday, when they travel to Marygrove College.
