(Grand Rapids, Mich.) Holy Cross scored in the 8th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead on homecoming day. CU's Nic Tolsma tied the game at 1-1 in the 34th minute on a Matt Osorio assist. CU had 4 shots and Holy Cross had 2 in the first half with both teams scoring one goal each. The Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure in the second half as
Brian Nimmo scored his first goal of the season off another Osorio assist in the 50
th minute. Osorio scored his second and third goal of the season in the 53
rd and 68
th minute. Osorio scored the 3
rd goal unassisted but the 4
th goal was assisted by
Nic Tolsma and
Trevor Hunt. The Golden Eagles appeared to be in control with the game at 4-1. Holy Cross mounted a furious comeback scoring in the 72
nd and 77
th minute both by Oswaldo Garrido to cut the lead to 4-3.
CU was able to hold on for the win and held a 13-8 shot advantage. Goalkeeper
Kyle Breckan recorded one save in the win. CU improves to 4-5-1 overall and Holy Cross falls to 3-5-1 overall. The Golden Eagles open conference play on Wednesday, October 6
th at Siena Heights.
