(Marion, Ind.) The second day of the Wildcat Invitational was practically a carbon copy of the first day. CU opened the day with a 3-0 to Mount Vernon Nazarene. Alicia TerHaar and Abby Miedema led the team with 9 kills each. Erin Greenwood led the team with 14 assists followed by Tamara Bethke's 12. Mount Vernon Nazarene won 25-18, 25-15, 25-22 to give the Golden Eagles their ninth loss of the season.
CU faced their third Mid Central Conference team of the weekend in the Mapleleafs of Goshen College. Goshen won the first game 26-24 before CU rallied back to win the games two and three 25-12, 25-17. Goshen won forced a fifth game winning the fourth 25-19 and then closed the match with a 15-9 win for the Mapleleafs. Abby Miedema
had a team high 17 kills and Erin Greenwood
dished out 39 assists. The Golden Eagles had 9 team blocks and TerHaar finished with a team best 3 aces in the loss. CU is now 7-10 overall and must rebound quickly as they host their second WHAC match of the season in Davenport University on Tuesday, September 21 at 7pm. It's "Purple Night" and all proceeds to the game will go to the VanAndel Institute to help find a cure for cancer. TV8's Maranda will be the special of guest of the evening providing the first serve of the night. "Purple Night" t-shirts will be sold for $10.
