The Golden Eagles put up a valiant effort today against #20 Spring Arbor but came up a little short as Spring Arbor scored the game tying goal with .17 seconds remaining to knot the score at 1-1 and then went on to win it in the 5th minute of the second OT.  Cornerstone played pretty well in the first half and kept the Cougars off the scoreboard despite their 11-5 shot advantage.Cornerstone went up 1-0 in the 57th minute when Ashleigh Lund headed a Anna Stegink free kick over the top of the Cougar GK.  Spring Arbor then turned up the pressure and created a good many chances through the remainder of the half but the Golden Eagle defense held tough and denied the Cougars until .17 seconds remaining when they played the ball across the face of the goal and found Kristin Abbott at the back post.  Both teams played to a 0-0 tie through the first OT.  The Cougars got the game winner with 4:52 remaining to end the game on a shot from just outside the box to beat Alyssa Morrow.  The Golden Eagles will have the weekend off and will return to action next Tuesday when they play a mid-week double header with the men.  The men will kick off at 3:00 p.m.. against Cedarville University.  The women' will face Goshen College at 5:00 p.m.  There will be a free concert from a Steel Drum Band from Trinidad after the game.  Next week is Missions Awareness week for the Golden Eagles as they host the Trinidad Urban Ministries Steel Drum Band on Tuesday and then will be part of "Night of Nets" on Saturday when both the men's and women's teams will be raising money to help buy bed nets for families in Africa which helps to reduce the number of cases of malaria by 50-60%.  It is estimated that 2000 people in Africa die every day due to Malaria.
