(Grand Ra[pids, Mich.) Cornerstone didn't get off to the kind of start they wanted to losing 3-1 to the Cavaliers of Walsh University. Clint Merck from Walsh scored the first goal on a header in the first half (16:51) but the Golden Eagles defense stayed strong and kept the score at 1-0 going into the half. The second half saw a much more physical battle and a miscue by goal-keeper Kyle Breckan
at the 50:21 mark pushed the score to 2-0. CU's defense kicked the ball to the goal-keeper and CU mishandled the ball only to the see the ball roll into the back of the net. Walsh continued to attack as George Moga scored in the 58 minute mark. Jacob Stanko
led the team with 6 shots three on goal and recorded his 1st goal of the season at the 66:15 minute mark. The Golden Eagles will need to regroup quickly as they travel to St. Xavier University on Wednesday, September 1st for an 8pm start.
