(Ann Arbor, Mich.) The Golden Eagles bats came to life today as they swept Concordia 7-1 and 8-4. Cornerstone scored three times in the 3rd inning. Melanie Creager tripled to score Elayna Citko and then scored herself on a wild pitch. Beth Wyckoff walked, advanced to second on a walk to Madison Bucilla. Both advanced a base on a wild pitch and Wyckoff scored on a Rachel Gruppen single to give CU a 3-0 lead. Cornerstone made it 5-0 when Mandee Michielsen hit a 2 RBI double in the top of 4th inning. Melanie Creager and Mandee Michielsen had RBI's in the 6th and 7th inning respectively to give Cornerstone a 7-0 lead. Concordia scored 1 in the bottom of the 7th inning to make it a 7-1 final. Madison Bucilla picked up the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone improves to 4-16 overall and 1-0 in the WHAC.
Cornerstone scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back in Game 2. Melanie Creager went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored to lead the Golden Eagle attack. Beth Wyckoff and Kaycee Kuiper recorded 2 RBI's each for Cornerstone. Rachel Gruppen picked up the win on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone improved to 5-16 overall and 2-0 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will return to action on Monday when they travel to Adrian to face Siena Heights.
