The Golden Eagles got a full 24 hours to recover from the tough game yesterday and the weather was much the same today with temperatures in the low 90's with high humidity.  Cornerstone started a little shaky giving up a couple of opportunities early on to the Cavaliers.  The Golden Eagles settled down and started to create some chances through the second part of the first half of play.  Montreat's GK came up huge on a point blank one time shot from Kerri Hoffman to keep the game tied at 0-0.  The Golden Eagles got on the board in the 42nd minute.  Laura Roerig won a ball on the left side of the field and lofted a ball over the back of the defense to Kelsey Gensler who headed the ball over the GK to make it 1-0.  Cornerstone increase the pressure on Montreat over the last few minutes.  The Golden Eagles won a corner kick with 10 seconds remaining in the half.  Kerri Hoffman was right at the corner and she set the ball down and hit a low drive ball across the penalty box.  Laura Roerig ran across her defender to meet the ball just outside the 6 yard box and hit a solid half-volley into the lower right side of the goal with just 1 second remaining on the clock to give Cornerstone a 2-0 lead.  The Golden Eagles picked up right where they left off scoring just 2 minutes into the second half of play.  Jess Erny played a ball across the face of the goal that bounced around some players.  Lexie Brisson-Fast pick up the ball, turned and laid a nice soft pass back to Kerri Hoffman who one timed her shot into the goal to make it 3-0.  The Golden Eagles kept the ball for most of the second half.  Many of the young players got into the game and kept applying pressure on the Cavalier goal but they could not add to their total.  Cornerstone outshot Montreat 30-6 on the day.  Cornerstone improves to 1-0-1 on the season and will return to action next Saturday when they travel down to Ft. Wayne to take on the University of Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m.
