The Cornerstone University baseball team was swept in a doubleheader today against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opponent Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Ind. by scores of 13-1 and 7-5. The Golden Eagles made a combined ten errors over the course of the two games.
Game one starter Ryan Harris was tagged with the loss after allowing 10 runs, five earned, on five hits and three walks in two innings. Kyle Marburger was strong in relief allowing two earned runs on two hits and four walks in four innings.
Zach Harbison led the Cornerstone offense in game one with three hits. Johnny Abbadusky was 2-3 with two stolen bases. Sonny Mastromatteo was 1-3 with a run and Zach Bohl was 1-3 while driving in the lone Cornerstone run.
Luke Heller suffered the loss in game two after being unable to get out of the first inning. Heller allowed five runs, two earned, on three hits and three walks. Brandon Willard pitched well in relief allowing two runs on five hits and one walk in five innings.
Sonny Mastromatteo led the offense in game two with two hits, one run, one stolen base, and one RBI. Geren Albury was 1-2 with a double, a run, and an RBI. Austin Brunk was also 1-2 with a run and RBI.
The losses move the Cornerstone overall record to 14-24 and 3-18 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will play another doubleheader tomorrow against Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Ind. beginning at 1:00.
