(Clermont, Fla.)  The Golden Eagles played their first game against Spring Arbor today and the theme of the game seemed to be long ball.  Cornerstone went deep early and often against the Cougars.  Heidi Walburg hit a solo shot in the top of the first inning to give Cornerstone a 1-0 lead.  Walburg doubled and scored on an error in the third inning to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0.  Megan Oberst hit another solo shot in the fifth inning to add another run to the Cornerstone lead.  Alyssa Ambu led off the sixth inning with a single.  She scored on a Jenna Weightman double to make it 4-0.  Heidi Walburg hit a 2 run homer  and Megan Oberst followed with another solo shot to give Cornerstone a 7-0 lead.  Heidi Walburg pitched a complete game 4-hit shutout from the circle to improve to 5-0 on the season.

The Golden Eagles bats stayed hot as they started the second game of the day with St. Francis (IL).  Megan Oberst and Emily Bode hit back to back RBI singles in the top of the first to open up a 2-0 lead.  Caitlyn Hartline led off the second inning with a double and scored on a fielder's choice for Alyssa Ambu to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 lead.  St. Francis got one back in the bottom of the second inning to make it 3-1.  Cornerstone scored another in the top of the third.  Walburg led off with a double and scored later on an error after an Alexsandra Szajna single.  The Fighting Saints came back with 3 runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 4-4.  St. Francis went ahead 5-4 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.  Cornerstone tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the seventh.  Lauren Pasciak, Heidi Walburg, and Megan Oberst hit consecutive singles and Pasciak scored on an Emily Bode fielder's choice.  St. Francis leadoff hitter reached on an error and advanced to second.  Advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single to win the game for the Fighting Saints.  Walburg took her first loss of the season from the circle.  Cornerstone drops to 7-3 on the year. 

Cornerstone will finish their games in Florida tomorrow with games against Trinity Christian (IL) and #5 St. Xavier (IL).
