As the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular-season came to a close last weekend and as the conference tournament begins Thursday, Feb. 27, the announcement was made earlier this afternoon for the 2013-14 conference Women's Basketball Awards.
Senior Katelyn Cousins and sophomore Jill Hendrickson represent the Golden Eagles on the WHAC All-Conference First Team. Cousins averaged 18.9 points, 1.9 steals, 2.9 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game this season. The Ada native scored her career high 35 points during senior day on Saturday, Feb. 22. Meanwhile, Hendrickson averaged 14.6 PPG and 8.2 RPG and recording 15 double-doubles this season. Hendrickson was also named to the WHAC All-Defensive Team.
Named to the All-Academic Team were Cornerstone's Tanner Hostetler, Olivia Jewett, Kirsten Kamphuis, Ashley Niedermayer and Janae Trombley. Sophomore Hostetler was also named to the Champions of Character Team.
The Golden Eagles finished 21-8 overall during head coach Katie Mattera's second season highlighted by finishing second in the WHAC regular-season going 16-6 in the WHAC. The conference tournament begins Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as the Golden Eagles host Concordia University during the first round.
