(Grand Rapids, Mich.) The Cornerstone women responded well after a weekend off defeating the visiting team of Siena Heights in three games on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles improved their overall record to 10-12 and their WHAC record to 2-3.
In game one, CU led 12-6 when Marcie Blacquiere stepped behind the service line and strung together seven straight points to widen the lead to 19-6. The Golden Eagles went on to win by a score of 25-10. Cornerstone finished the game with a .520 attack percentage with 14 kills and only one error on 25 attempts.
In the second game of the night, the Golden Eagles controlled the tempo as they never gave up more than three consecutive points to the Saints. After jumping out to a 4-0 lead, CU rallied to a 25-14 victory.
Cornerstone wrapped up the match in game three with a 25-17 win to complete the sweep. The Golden Eagles never trailed the entire night as they once again scored the first point of the game.
Katie McKee led Cornerstone at the net collecting eight kills on a .533 attack percentage. Alicia TerHaar tallied nine kills and 10 digs while Becky Albrecht added eight kills and 17 digs. Blacquiere ended the night with 34 assists. The Golden Eagles collected 14 kills as a team in each of the games and finished the night hitting .337 for the match.
Cornerstone will travel to Ann Arbor on Thursday to take on the Cardinals of Concordia at 7:00pm.
