Following a 2-0 week that included conference wins over (RV) University of Northwestern Ohio and Marygrove College, the Cornerstone's men's basketball team received a conference weekly award. Senior guard Wes Hudson was honored for a second time this season for games played from Jan. 13-19. The announcement was made by the conference yesterday afternoon.
Hudson's week was highlighted by averaging 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals while shooting 65.2% from the field in CU's two victories. The Wayland native scored a career-high 39 points on 11-of-16 shooting as the Golden Eagles went on to defeat UNOH. Playing just 16 minutes against Marygrove, the standout senior added 10 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals in the win.
The guard is also making national attention averaging 18.6 points per game while ranking ninth in NAIA Division II Men's Basketball for his outstanding 87.6 percent free throw percentage.
After the week, the Golden Eagles advance to 17-3 overall while maintaining the top WHAC position with an 11-1 conference record. Looking ahead the No. 6 Cornerstone's men's basketball team has a tough week, facing Siena Heights on Wednesday night and traveling to No. 10 Davenport University on Saturday. The Golden Eagles' only conference loss of the season came to the Davenport Panthers. CU will look for revenge on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
