The Golden Eagles had to travel over to Detroit to take on Marygrove College today and they came home with their 14th victory of the season. The last place (0-12) Mustangs played the Golden Eagles tough early on in the game. Cornerstone jumped out to an early 10-4 lead but the Mustangs would not let the Golden Eagles extend that lead. The Mustangs made a 9-3 run to tie the game at 13-13 at 10:59. Cornerstone would take the lead again only to see Marygrove tie then again at 19-19, 22-22, and then again at 25-25 with 6:03 left in the half. The Golden Eagles would make a 17-7 run down the stretch highlighted by a shot by Janae Trombley at the buzzer to give Cornerstone a 42-32 lead at the half. The Mustangs made the first basket of the second half to cut the lead to 8 but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the game. The Golden Eagle gradually pulled away from the Mustangs from that point on. Cornerstone pushed their lead to 73-53 with 3:12 left in the game and finished with a 79-58 win over Margrove to improve to 9-3 in the WHAC and sole possession of second place.

The Golden Eagles dominated the glass – out rebounding the Mustangs 57-37 including 26 offensive rebounds.
Cornerstone hosts Siena Heights in a crucial WHAC game on Wednesday at 5:30. Cornerstone is a ½ game ahead of Siena Heights although the Saints defeated the Golden Eagles 59-47 in their first meeting.
