Cornerstone traveled over to Chicago today to take on Roosevelt University in a battle of ranked NAIA teams. The Golden Eagles started out well taking an early lead over the first five minutes of play. Wes Hudson dropped a 3-pointer at 14:16 to give Cornerstone a 12-7 lead and they maintained that lead over the next six minutes. The largest Cornerstone lead was 18-12 with 9:18 on the clock but the Lakers turned things around quickly taking their first lead of the half (19-18) with 7:00 on the clock. Roosevelt kept that lead for the rest of the half and would go into the locker room with a 33-30 advantage. Anthony Allen tied the game at 33-33 just :38 seconds into the second half. The two teams would be tied again at 38-38 and 41-all before Roosevelt took the lead from 15:44 until 11:22. The teams would tie again at 52-52 and 54-all before the Golden Eagles took the lead again. Cornerstone built the lead to 60-54 with about four minutes left in the game but the Lakers battled back to tie the game at 60-all with 3:08 left in the game. Cory Cox sank a free throw with :57 to give Cornerstone a 61-60 lead and they would be able to hold off Roosevelt through the last minute and survived a game tying 3-pointer attempt at the buzzer to walk off with a 65-62 victory.

The Golden Eagles shot 46.7% (7-15) from long range in the game while the Lakers made just 6 of their 25 shots from behind the arc.
Cornerstone will return to action on January 4th when they resume WHAC play at Concordia University at 3:00 p.m.
