The Golden Eagles started slowly today and found themselves down 8-0 after 1:44 of play but they did battle back and were able to tie the game at 13-13 on a Wes Hudson 3-pointer with 11:30 left in the half. Jake Plite made a couple of free throws to give Cornerstone a 15-13 advantage and Justin Pepper extended the lead to 17-13 for their largest lead of the game. The Bulldogs responded with a 17-6 run over the next six minutes to take a 30-23 lead with 5:32 left in the half. The Bulldogs extended the lead to as much as 12 (47-35) with 11 seconds left but Wes Hudson hit a layup as time expired to cut the lead to 47-37 at the half. The Golden Eagles cut the lead to five points (57-52) with 14:37 left in the game second half but the Bulldogs quickly pushed the lead back to double digits (66-56) over the next three minutes and they would keep it the lead to double digits for the remainder of the game. Ferris State would gradually increase their lead through the remainder of the half and would end the game with a 96-75 win over Cornerstone. Wes Hudson and Jake Plite led the Golden Eagles with 18 and 14 points respectively.
KEY TEAM STATS
The Golden Eagles shot just 44.8% from the field which included 5-17 from long range while the Bulldogs shot 52.3% and 10 for 20 from long range. Ferris State also won the battle of the boards 39-30.
Cornerstone will have off until Dec. 30th when they travel over to Chicago to take on Roosevelt University at 8:00 p.m.
