The Golden Eagles started kind of slow today against the Cougars from Kuyper. Cornerstone led from the beginning but they could not pull away from Kuyper for most of the first half. The Golden Eagles double up the Cougars 14-7 after 6:43 of play but Kuyper would not make it easy for Cornerstone. Cornerstone got the lead to 29-20 with 8:24 but Kuyper bounced right back with 7 points in a :48 second span to cut the lead to 29-27 with 7:21 on the clock. Cornerstone made a 10-4 run over the three minutes to push the lead to 39-31 advantage. The Golden Eagles pushed the lead to 51-34 with 1:36 and ended the half up 55-42 with Wes Hudson dropping in a couple of free throws with: 04 on the clock. The Golden Eagles came out red hot in the 2nd half of play with a 24-7 run over the first 5:15 of the period to push their lead to 83-53. Cornerstone continued to shoot well and extended the lead to 40 (99-59) with 8:05 left in the game. They would get the lead to as much as 47 (117-70) with 5:15 left in the game and would finish with a 130-85 victory over the Cougars. Seven players (Wes Hudson – 27, Alex Lyle – 18, Ben Lanning and Jake Plite – 16, Cory Cox – 15, Ty Mason – 13, and Travis Wells – 11) scored in double digits for Cornerstone tonight.

The Golden Eagles shot 69% (29-42) in the second half of play to blow open the game. The Golden Eagles also out-rebounded the Cougars by a total of 56-27 including 19 offensive rebounds. Cornerstone outscored Kuyper 34-14 in the paint and scored 27 points off of Turnovers.
Cornerstone will go on the road to play UM-Dearborn on Thursday, Dec. 19th at 7:30 p.m.
