Cornerstone entered the game with a 4-2 overall record and a WHAC record of 2-1 after the last second loss to Davenport. The Golden Eagles would start well today as they made a 13-3 run over the first five minutes. Marygrove responded to two straight 3-pointers to cut the lead to 4 but that would be as close as the Mustangs would get in the game. Cornerstone made a 13-5 run right after that to get the lead back to 12 points at (26-14). The Golden Eagles kept putting on the pressure and adding to their lead throughout the remainder of the first half and they would go into the locker room up 49-32. Freshman Cory Cox was red hot in the first half of play scoring 18 points on 8 of 10 shooting from the field which included 2-2 from long range. The Mustangs kept the lead about the same for the first five minutes of the second half but the Golden Eagles ran off 11 straight points between 15:32 and 11:55 to take a commanding 71-41 lead. Cornerstone would keep gradually increasing their lead throughout the rest of the half and would finish the game with a convincing 99-52 victory over the Mustangs. Ben Lanning and Travis Wells led the Golden Eagles with 10 and 9 points respectively in the second half of play.

The Golden Eagles shot 56.5% (39-69) compared to the Mustangs 29.3% (17-58) from the field for the game. Cornerstone also owned a distinct advantage in rebounds (52-29) for the game.
Cornerstone will play host Calvin on Friday at 8:00 p.m. in the Grand Rapids Hall of Fame Tournament.
