Cornerstone entered the game with a 4-3 overall record and a mark of 1-2 in the WHAC against Marygrove College. Marygrove came out early and competed very well in the first five minutes of the game. The Mustangs made the first basket of the game and kept the score close (10-12) through 5:44 of the first half but the Golden Eagles made a 12-0 run over the next three and a half minutes to give them a 24-10 lead with 10:40 left in the half. The Golden Eagles would increase the lead to as much as 20 points (37-17) with 3:18 remaining and would finish with a 40-26 halftime advantage. Katelyn Cousins and Jill Hendrickson led the Golden Eagles with 13 and 10 points respectively in the first half of play. Cornerstone started fast in the second half quickly building the lead to over 20 points and then to 30 points (66-36) after the first 6:25 of the second half. The Mustangs would keep the score close to that for the remainder of the half. Cornerstone built the lead to as much as 35 points (85-50) with about a minute to play but the Mustangs would score the last 5 points to finish the game down 55-85. Jill Hendrickson scored 9 points in the second half and the Cornerstone non-starters scored 23 of the team's 45 points in the second half of play. 12 different players scored for the Golden Eagles on the day. Cornerstone improves to 2-2 in WHAC play and 5-3 overall with the win.
