Marcie Blacquiere helped Cornerstone University post a 4-0 week with her outstanding play at the net. The senior was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts.
The senior from Byron Center, Mich. continued her record-setting week last week to average 10.7 assists and 1.7 digs during the Golden Eagles 13 games at the McKendree Invitational. The setter expanded on her school-record for career assists she set last week with 139 more this week. She also averaged two kills per game as Cornerstone defeated host McKendree University (Ill.) 3-1; and blanked Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.), Brescia University (Ky.) and Central Methodist University (Mo.).
Blacquiere currently ranks No. 26 in the nation for assists per game with a 9.56 average. The Golden Eagles improve to 6-7 on the year and will face Indiana Institute of Technology on Sept. 15.
