The Golden Eagles volleyball team lost a disappointing 3-2 match in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference semifinal to Lourdes University on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles finished their season with an overall 26-11 overall record.
After losing the first and second set, the Golden Eagles were able to bounce back and win sets three and four to force the fifth and final set. After a 10-7 lead Lourdes was able to tie the score at 12-12 and Lourdes went on to a 15-13 fifth set victory. Cornerstone attacked at a .167 pace as their opponents attacked at a .152 percentage.
The Golden Eagles were led by Cailie Johnson who tallied 13 kills while Murphy Heyer and Chelsea Lake added 10 kills respectively. Cornerstone posted 53 kills while serving up four aces and tallied 79 digs. Senior Abby Miedema led the Golden Eagles with 24 digs while Kim Weaver added 15 digs and dished out 39 assists. Becky Albrecht and Johnson helped out defensively as well with seven and five blocks respectively.
