The Golden Eagles hit the road to play their first of two WHAC games to start conference play. Cornerstone opened WHAC play against #16 Siena Heights in Adrian, Mich. Katelyn Cousins made two free throws to start the game and the Golden Eagles traded leads a few times over the first six minutes of play. Siena Heights took the lead 13-12 lead with 12:12 on the clock and they would hold on to the lead for the remainder of the half. The Saints made a 19-6 run over the next 10 minutes of play to take a 32-18 lead with about two minutes left in the half. The Golden Eagles would cut into the lead to finish out the half down just 25-33 at the intermission. Cornerstone would reduce the deficit to 39-38 with 12:55 left in the game but that would be as close as they would get on the evening. Siena Heights went on a 17-2 run to extend the lead to 56-40 with 5:15 left in the half and they would finish the game with a 59-47 win to open WHAC play. Cornerstone drops to 0-1 in the WHAC and 3-2 overall
KEY TEAM STATS
The Golden Eagles shot just 26.5% for the game which included 2-21 from behind the arc. Siena Heights also won the battle of the boards 47-40.
The Golden Eagles travel down to Lima, Ohio to take on University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
