Cornerstone and Spring Arbor went back and forth over the first four minutes of play with Cornerstone taking the lead and Spring Arbor tying it up three times. The game was tied at 8-8 with 15:50 on the clock but that would be the last time that the Cougars would be level with the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone went on a 10-2 run to increase the lead to 18-10 with 14:08 remaining in the half. Spring Arbor responded to cut the lead back to 19-16 at 11:35 but the Golden Eagles would make a 21-8 run over the next 6 ½ minutes to go up 40-24 with 4:58 remaining. Spring Arbor did reduce the deficit to 11 points (44-33) at the half. The Golden Eagles would come out and make an 11-4 run to start the second half and saw their biggest lead with 16:48 on the clock. The Golden Eagles would keep a double digit lead for the next 11 minutes of the game but the Cougars did fight back and cut the lead to 3 points (74-71) with :19 seconds remaining. Spring Arbor was forced to foul at that point and Ty Mason made the first and missed the second free throw to increase the lead to 75-71. Anthony Allen then fouled Xavier Prather and he made both foul shots to cut the lead to 75-73 with :15 seconds on the clock. Wes Hudson was then fouled and made both shots to get the lead back to 4 points. Spring Arbor missed their next attempt and fouled again and sent Michael McLaughlin to the line and he made both to secure the 79-73 win for the Golden Eagles. Cornerstone shot just 44.8% (26-58) from the field but that included 40% (8-20) from long range. Spring Arbor made 50% (25-50) from the field but they made just 12.5% (1-8) from behind the 3-point line.

The Golden Eagles had 35 rebounds and 15 of those were offensive rebounds which led to 2nd chance points for Cornerstone.
Cornerstone will open up WHAC play next Thursday, Nov. 14th when they travel down to Adrian to take on Siena Heights at 7:30 p.m.
