The No. 21 Cornerstone University volleyball squad continued their undefeated record in October after hosting Northwestern-Ohio for senior night, Wednesday. The Golden Eagles took a 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-11, 25-15) while advancing to 25-9 overall and 9-1 during conference play. The Racers fall to 20-7 overall and 6-5 in the WHAC.
Cornerstone held a dominate 49-27, 44-38 and 46-25 in team kills, digs and assists during the match. Johanna Egerer led all players during the night connecting on nine kills while Cailie Johnson, Libby Webber and senior Becky Albrecht added eight kills. Kim Weaver dished out 36 assists compared to UNOH's Lauren Maxwell who dished out 21 respectively. Senior Abby Miedema helped out defensively adding 13 digs. As a team, the Golden Eagles had six blocks while Johnson, Weaver and Webber added three assisted blocks apiece. Cornerstone attacked their best (.419) during the third and final set while keeping the Racers to a mere .111 in the set.
Currently the Golden Eagles sit in second place tied with No. 22 Davenport in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings. The two teams will face each other next Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Davenport University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
