During day one of the Aquinas / Cornerstone Classic at Cornerstone, the volleyball squad notched two wins against over Spring Arbor University and Grace College (Ind.). The Golden Eagles repeated during day two of the tournament sweeping Goshen College and Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Match one the Golden Eagles faced Goshen College and swept their opponents 3-0. Johanna Egerer led all Cornerstone players with 11 kills while senior Becky Albrecht followed behind with 6 kills. Cailie Johnson attacked with the highest percentage of .556 with five kills on nine attempts and zero errors. Weaver led all players dishing out 25 kills during the match while Abby Miedema added 21 digs. Johnson and Egerer helped out defensively both adding three assisted blocks. During the match Cornerstone attacked at a .283 percentage.
The final match of the day and the weekend was against Mount Vernon Nazarene finishing with another 3-0 sweep. Johnson was the Cornerstone leader in the kill category with 13 while adding one serving ace. Libby Webber was the Golden Eagles' block leader with two blocks. Miedema added 12 digs during the second match as well.
During day one of the Missouri Baptist Tournament in St. Louis, Mo., the Cornerstone University volleyball squad notched two big wins over national ranked No. 19 Grand View University and No. 17 Missouri Baptist College. The Golden Eagles repeated during day two of the tournament defeating No. 22 Columbia College and Friends University (Kan.).
Rounding the tournament, the Golden Eagles left with 4-0 record sweeping all four opponents.
No. 21 Cornerstone will host the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 30, for senior night. The match-up will begin at 6 p.m.
