The Golden Eagles hosted Davenport in a crucial WHAC contest tonight and they brought their A game against the Panthers.  Cornerstone had the majority of the play in the first half creating some good chances that ended up being near misses.  Cornerstone really dictated play in the first half keeping the Panthers on their heels for most of the half.  The whole team played very well in that first half of play.  "Their were a lot of really good performances from the Golden Eagles" said Coach Strawser.  Cornerstone outshot Davenport 5-4 and had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks at the intermission. The Panthers came out in the second half of play and turn the tables a little on the Golden Eagles.  Cornerstone still had some chances but the ball was in the Golden Eagles half for the majority of the time.  Davenport drew a bunch of corner kicks in the second half and they made the Golden Eagles pay for it when Letesha Connonier hit a nice half-volley into the far post from about 15 yards out to give Davenport a 1-0 lead with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game.  Cornerstone put three up top to try to get the equalizer but they just couldn't find the back of the net.  Davenport outshot Cornerstone 8-5 in the second half and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.  Cornerstone drops to 9-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the WHAC.  The Golden Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Adrian to take on Siena Heights at 4:30 p.m.
