In tennis action today at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN, the Cornerstone Men's Tennis Team opened their season with a 7-2 win. Cornerstone won 2 out of the 3 doubles points, but fell short in a tie-breaker at #2 doubles. Cornerstone dominated the singles action, winning the top 5 spots, but falling at #6 when a cascade of injuries fell senior Alex Tarnow. Picking up singles wins were Elijah Yi, Austin Hunt, Chris Reed, John Andrew, & Andrew Son. Said Coach Erickson on today's action: "We didn't come out as focused as I would have liked, but this was a good opportunity for us to work out the first match jitters and start off with a win. I probably didn't give our doubles players the best chance for success today by making a very late lineup change, so I'll take the blame for the #2 doubles result. In the end, I'm glad we came away with the win and am excited to see where this team can go this fall."
Up next for Cornerstone is a trip to Chicago on Tuesday September 3 to play Olivet Nazarene, who finished #19 in the country last year.
