The Cornerstone men's golf team headed to Lima, Ohio, earlier today to participate in the WHAC Jamboree #3 (rd. 1) hosted by UNOH at the Hawthorne Hills Golf Course. Prior to the event, the Golden Eagles found themselves in third place overall behind UNOH and Davenport.
After the first round of the Jamboree, Cornerstone tallied their third lowest score in the past two years. As a team, the Golden Eagles finished with a 296, plus eight for the course, placing them in second out of ten teams. Davenport took the first place spot shooting an overall 289 team score while Madonna followed Cornerstone with a 299 total placing them in third. The second round of the Jamboree will occur tomorrow Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Leading the Way
Sam Vos leads all Golden Eagles with a 73 placing him tied for seventh heading into tomorrow's event. Vos had four birdies on the day and his score ties his career low for any college event. Davenport's Adrian Balbas sits in the leader position during the Jamboree shooting three under par (69).
Tyler Coyne and Casey VandenBerg are one stroke behind Vos with a 74 placing them tied for tenth overall after round one. Coyne has now placed himself in the top 10 WHAC golfers while VandenBerg carded his season low. Zach Mick follows closely behind the other Cornerstone golfers shooting a 75 and tied for 14th. Rounding the afternoon was Brad Clevenger (87).
The Golden Eagles will return to the course tomorrow, Sept. 25, for the second round of WHAC Jamboree #3. Round two is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. in Fort Wayne, Ind., at the Coyote Creek Golf Course.
