The Golden Eagles traveled down to Mishawauka, IN today to face Bethel College on a very hot and humid day. Cornerstone started well and kept the ball for much of the first half. Cornerstone outshot the Pilots 15-5 and earned eight corner kicks in the first half of play. Lexie Brisson-Fast came the closest to scoring when she broke the middle of the defense but missed just wide to the right of the goal. The Golden Eagles came out in the second half much like the first and created some good chances. Most of the chances came off of corner kicks in the second half. Cornerstone had one exchange when a header was cleared off the line by a defender and then the GK made a save to push the ball over the bar on the rebound shot. The Golden Eagles finally got on the board in the 76th minute of play. Lexie Brisson-Fast took a pass from Josie Litty and got behind the Pilots defender and then beat the GK to the far post to put CU up 1-0. Cornerstone scored a second goal a few minutes later but was ruled offside before the goal. Cornerstone outshot Bethel 25-10 in the game. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-2 on the season and will return home for their Night of Nets game against University of Saint Francis on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
