The Golden Eagles welcomed the Haitian National Team to Cornerstone for the second year in a row. Cornerstone didn't start very well, conceding an early goal and a barrage of chances in the first 15 minutes of play but they did settle down and kept the Haitian National team from scoring the remainder of the game. Cornerstone did not get a shot on goal in the first half of play. Cornerstone came out in the second half and played a little better. They were able to possess the ball a little better and got of a couple of good shots on the Haitian GK. Cornerstone got solid play out of the defense in the second half of play. Kate Wiegman, Maylani Siemasz, Rachel Schutter, and Teigan Mitcham all defended well and Freshman GK Megan Lamb played very well in the goal and made some very good saves for the Golden Eagles. "Overall, I thought the team played very well." said Coach Strawser. "What a great opportunity for our team to be able to host a national team on our campus. The players really responded well against a very good opponent."
Cornerstone will open their season next Saturday night when they take on Taylor University at 7:00 p.m.
