Cornerstone University and head baseball coach Dave Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of Zack Coel, a left-handed pitcher from Crystal Lake, Ill. Coel pitched for McHenry County College the last two seasons after a great four years at Prairie Ridge High School. Coel played one season with current Golden Eagle Ryan Harris while they were in high school. The 6'6" lefty was an All-Area pitcher in high school posting a 7-1 record for a conference championship team.
When asked about his decision to attend Cornerstone University, Zack said, "Cornerstone has everything I wanted out of a college. For one, it's a small campus with a small number of students in attendance. Two, I had previously worked with Coach Mitroff and Coach Chuck during my high school years. I really love everything about those two coaches' philosophy forwards baseball. But most importantly, because Cornerstone is a Christian school I will be strengthening my walk and my faith with Jesus Christ."
Head baseball coach Dave Mitroff said, "We are happy to add Zack Coel to our pitching staff. He brings the experience of pitching for great programs in the past and gives us another lefty. Zack will work hard to earn a big role on our pitching staff and we are excited to see what he will add to our current stable of arms."
