Cornerstone University and head baseball coach David Mitroff are pleased to announce the signing of Evan Wagner, a pitcher and middle infielder from Port Huron, Mich. Over the course of his four years at Port Huron High, Wagner hit .388 with a .573 slugging percentage and 41 stolen bases. He set single-season school records for most hits, runs, and RBI. On the mound as a senior, Evan had a 2.53 ERA with 54 strikeouts and 22 walks.
When asked about his decision to attend Cornerstone, Evan said, "From the beginning, Cornerstone was a great option for me. After visiting the campus and working with the ball team, I knew it was the place I wanted to be. The Christian atmosphere, the beautiful campus, and the overall feeling of excellence were what excited me most about Cornerstone. I hope to be a student who gives his best day in and day out in order to advance as a believer, a student, an athlete, and a person."
Cornerstone baseball coach David Mitroff said, "We are thrilled to add Evan Wagner to our baseball program. Evan has the ability to contribute in many different ways to our team immediately. He can pitch, hit, defend, and run and we can't wait to see how we will utilize him. Beyond that, Evan is an outstanding young Christian man with great leadership potential."
