(Grand Rapids, Mich.) The Golden Eagles played very well today but a late first half goal by Bri Hill of Aquinas brought the season to an end as Aquinas defeated Cornerstone 1-0. The Golden Eagles had some good chances in the first half but couldn't convert. Aquinas got one good look in the first half and Bri Hill made the Golden Eagles pay with a shot into the side netting. Cornerstone came out and applied a lot of pressure in the second half just missing on a couple of shots and a couple of goal mouth scrambles but none of them would find their way into the net. Cornerstone outshot Aquinas 9-2 in the second half. The Golden Eagles season came to an abrupt end with the loss. It marks the first time that Cornerstone has not qualified for the four team WHAC tournament. "The players really played their hearts out today and I was proud of their effort" said Coach Strawser. "The game can be cruel at times. I felt like we deserved a better result today."
