(Grand Rapids, Mich.) The Golden Eagles had to move their game to the turf of MVP Fieldhouse today on a cold and windy day and they came away with a 2-0 victory over Marygrove. Kelley Ritsema scored her first goal of the season by taking a Riley Steen pass and putting it into the net from close range. The Golden Eagles continued to pressure the Mustangs throughout the first half but could only manage to hit the post a couple of times. Jen Kuipers made it 2-0 early in the second half on an Ashleigh Lund assist. The Marygrove defense continued to play well and kept the Golden Eagles off the board for the rest of the game. Cornerstone outshot Marygrove 33-2 on the game. The Golden Eagles improve to 6-8-3 on the year. Cornerstone is currently in 5th place in the WHAC with one game remaining. Cornerstone will move on into 4th place and into the WHAC playoffs with a win or a tie against Aquinas on Tuesday. That game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. at Cornerstone.
